Preventing Acne and Curing Acne

Skin disease like acne is not exactly life threatening but it can greatly affect one’s life. Skin diseases strike a person’s confidence more than anything. Since skin is the part of body that is very much visible, it is important to make it look good as possible.

And just like any other disease, there is always a choice between prevention and cure. If your skin is acne-free, well done! But don’t get too laid back. It is a scientific fact that acne is usually suffered by teenagers, but it can also inflict adults. So to prevent acne, you must maintain your skin’s health. What if you already have acne? Don’t sweat too much. There are a lot of skin care products out there that can definitely help you. Also, some of these products can be made at home and are just as effective as the ones sold in pharmacies or stores.

Prevention

  • One great rule when it comes to acne – avoid touching your face. Our hands and nails are one of the dirtiest parts of our body. If you don’t have acne, it doesn’t mean you can’t have pimples occasionally. Yes, it is still possible. It is advisable to wipe your face with a handkerchief and not with your palm or the back of your hands. And never ever pop your pimples.
  • Pursue a healthy lifestyle. Eating healthy is one way to maintain a great skin. Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals that can promote healthy skin. Drinking lots of liquids, particularly water is another good advice. Avoid sodas, alcohol, and other drinks that are full of sugar.
  • Stress is another factor that causes acne. Well not only acne but a lot of other diseases. Avoid situation that causes you stress. And if it is really unavoidable, find an outlet to de-stress yourself. Some people indulge in exercise and other physical activities. Others use their hobbies to enjoy themselves. Whatever it is, make sure you are in love with what you do.

Cure

A lot of skin care products are available in the market today. Acne is either mild or severe or between that. Choosing a skin care product is kind of tricky. It is mostly a trial and error procedure since not all products are suitable for all skin types. You can either opt for topical or oral. But it is advisable to start with something mild and gradually increase dosage when it is not effective. When everything seems to be not doing your skin any good or worse, making your acne actually worse, it is better to seek for professional help. Go to a dermatologist. It may cost a little bit more but you can consider it an investment. A healthy skin is a great part of one’s well-being.
